Requirements
The target audience for the PMI PgMP certification exam includes those program managers who have experience in performing the coordinated management of multiple, related projects aimed at the strategic business & organizational objectives. This test will also suit those professionals who launch projects and assign the project managers to manage the cost, schedule, and performance of component projects, while working to ensure the eventual success and acceptance of the program. These individuals must have the knowledge and skills required to be effective in the project, business and/or government environments as well as make decisions that meet the strategic objectives. Besides that, they need to have the advanced competency in finance, leadership, communication, negotiation, cross-cultural awareness, and conflict resolution.
There are a number of requirements that the candidates need to meet to become eligible for the PMI PgMP certification. First of all, they should have a secondary degree (an associate’s degree, a high school diploma, or the global equivalent). Additionally, they need to possess 48 months of project management experience or hold the valid Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate. Apart from that, the target individuals must have 84 months of program management experience over the last 15 years. Alternatively, they will be asked to demonstrate a four-year degree, 48 months of project management experience or valid PMI PMP, as well as 48 months of program management experience over the last 15 years.
